Lovehoney and the Environment

Lovehoney is working to minimise its impact on the environment. Here are some of the things we do to help provide you with a more environmentally friendly place to shop.

Waste Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Regulations

Lovehoney is committed to greener business practices that benefit both its customers and the environment.

Lovehoney works with a leading UK provider of reliable and responsible compliance and recycling solutions to ensure it complies with environmental legislation. Lovehoney takes back obsolete like-for-like goods as part of sale.

Lovehoney's WEEE producer registration number is: WEE/BH0150QW

Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Lovehoney offers a take back scheme. We're able to recycle used batteries if you bring them to us.

However, it is extremely dangerous to send batteries in the post, so please only bring used batteries to us in person. DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) strongly advises against posting your used batteries for recycling.

Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points. Your local council may even collect batteries as part of their recycling services.

You can find your local waste battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com.

Our packaging and the environment

As a company whose mission it is to bring sexual happiness to people, we also want to ensure that we are making conscious decisions to reduce our impact on the environment. That's why we've focused on using recycled material for our delivery packaging where possible.

The boxes we use to send your orders in are sourced from at least 70% recycled material, and all of our boxes are 100% recyclable in your household recycling bin.

Although we do use plastic envelopes to send some of your orders in, we have sourced envelopes made from 100% recycled material.

Recycle your old vibrators and other electronic toys

Unrecycled electrical equipment in landfills can leak hazardous substances, causing soil and water contamination, which in turn harms wildlife and human health.

Newer electrical equipment is marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol to indicate it should not be thrown away in the bin.

It's the crossed-out wheelie bin

Please do not throw any electrical equipment in your bin, even those not marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

You can take your electrical items to a local facility. To find more information on WEEE recycling and to find your local recycling centre, visit www.recyclenow.com.

What else Lovehoney is doing

Lovehoney staff are encouraged to lift-share wherever possible and many do so.

Bicycles can be safely stored on Lovehoney premises and a shower is available to staff who cycle, walk or run to work. All employees qualify for the government's Cycle To Work scheme.

Wherever possible, meetings are conducted by telephone, instant messenger or videoconference, minimising the need to travel to business meetings.

Lovehoney staff are encouraged to always switch off lights, monitors, PCs, photocopiers and printers at night and during prolonged breaks. By doing this, it is possible to reduce emissions associated with electricity consumption by up to 20%.

Facilities are provided so staff can recycle cans, bottles, cardboard and paper.

We will continue to encourage our staff to be aware of energy efficiency and create an energy efficient ethos.
